Leonid The Magnificent

Oh my - I hate to admit that Ed and I have been hooked on "America's Got Talent" this summer. I mean, we pretty much knew that America doesn't have talent, but it's summertime and we were always up for some good brainless fluffy TV. And did we get it. In droves. By far, the highlight of the competition has been Leonid the Magnificent. Leonid is a ridiculously tall Eastern European drag queen, who wears platform heels and huge feather headdresses (as if he wasn't tall enough already.

The Hoff called him "Victoria's Secret from Hell"
Piers called him a Christmas Tree.
Brandy was just frightened I think.
I call it funny as all hell!

In the tryouts he balanced swords on a thread. In the semi-finals he twirled a giant cube. Well, for a good laugh the judges brough him back for the wild card show, and he really outdid himself with a hula hoop act that looks like it came straight out of "To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar".

Boy I love YouTube - upon further searching, I found this video of his stage act, including the hula hoop and sword balancing routines (viewers beware, contains Leonid hiney & other simulated actions so watch at your own risk). And of course, in true fashion of today, he's got a MySpace page... I love that his heros are "Jesus Christ & God". Go Leonid!

It's been a while...

Wow, I can't believe that over a month has passed since I updated this blog! Bad Mabs, very bad Mabs. I guess not much has been going on - summer's here, and it's been hot. Thank God for the central A/C and the little inflatable pool we have in the back yard.

My string bean went to the pediatrician a few weeks ago for a weight check since she really didn't gain much weight at her 2 year check up in January - happily she's gained about 4 pounds and is around 27 pounds. Yay for peanut butter! Ed and I are quite happy since she did really well at dinner last night, munching up a whole bunch of pork chops (dripping in applesauce, of course). Yum. We'll get there, slowly but surely.

My absence has mostly been because I've been playing Kingdom of Loathing. I had always heard about it through Sissyfight - a bunch of Sissies have been active KoL'ers for 2 years or so. There was a recent post about it and I decided to see what the fuss was all about. One of Ed's friends is really active as well so he's been helping me out. I've been having fun - looking to kill the Naughty Sorceress today and start my second life in the Kingdom...

Well, leave it to Ed to find this gem of a video at Boing Boing today. Wow. Will never look at my cooktop the same again.
