Harry Connick, Superstar!

OK, while Ed covered the details of our weekend in NY rather well, I can't believe it is Tuesday night and I am just now getting around to announcing this: I MET HARRY CONNICK, JR.!!

It was somewhat surreal to meet the man I've obsessed over since 1989. Ed got us really great 3rd row seats for The Pajama Game, so I was able to gawk. We were close enough and his pants were tight enough for me to be able to tell that my dear Mr. Connick wears briefs. But I digress... After the show, we did the old stand by the stage door thing and about 5 minutes later Harry was coming out the door and right in front of me! I gave him my Playbill to sign, told him how much we enjoyed the performance, and congratulated him on his Tony nomination. He thanked me, handed back my Playbill and moved on. And that was it. I was so excited I thought I was going to cry. Ed, God bless him, was pushing me up to the front and trying to get my picture with Harry but the two rather large security dudes wouldn't let anyone take pictures. Oh well. I had my film confiscated at a Harry concert years ago so I wasn't about to mess with photos & security again. There are so many things I would have loved to say but time was short and there were others who wanted autographs. Ed was going to ask him how Jill was doing but never did. Oh well. So, as if I needed a reason to declare this, but ED IS THE BEST HUBBY EVAH! This was an awesome day all around.

While searching for a picture, I came across this press junket for The Pajama Game. I thought it was funny. And this picture of Harry's opening night bow. The man has truly lost it. Still love him though!!

A few weeks ago I was watching Jay Leno and he had Elwood Carlisle on. He's an 80 year old who decided to pursue acting as a career when he was 73, by becoming an extra. Apparently a few people who worked on Jay's show made a documentary on him called Elwood Carlisle, Superstar. What a hoot he is! The guy has incredible energy, and seems so out there - I think I'll need to search down this film & see it someday. Check out his headshot, cover letter & resume - it's outrageous!

Also making the talk show rounds is Rosie Perez, hawking her documentary "Yo soy Boricua, pa'que tu lo sepas!" or "I'm Boricua, Just So You Know!". Rosie just cracks me up. I'll go see anything she's in, just to listen to her talk. Ed hit it on the nose, she's been on Letterman so often it's like she is turning into his Charo.

One last thing - we are so bummed that 24 is done for the season! I know, I need to stop lamenting about the end of the season. It's sad, really. One of Ed's co-workers had a good point - if the show is done in real time, how did Jack go from being captured somewhere in LA by the Chinese to being on a slow boat to China, which is actually at sea already, in the space of a few minutes? Bad time continuum! Mary Lynn Rajskub was on Regis & Kelly yesterday morning and she pointed out her Mom in the crowd, who was wearing a short sleeved version of this t-Shirt. Excellent!!
